Mayor Pacquiao thanks residents for successful Kalilangan Fest

General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao on Wednesday thanked the city residents for being part of the successful Kalilangan 2024.

In a message, the local chief executive said the huge volume of attendees during the week-long celebration was a clear manifestation that the people of General Santos City are united and very supportive of the city’s festival.

“Ang aking taos-pusong pasasalamat sa ating lahat, sa mga Generals, sa kanilang buong suporta para maging matagumpay, mapayapa ang pagdiriwang natin ng ating Kalilangan Festival ngayong taon,” the mayor said.

She also thanked this year’s festival director Joey Conception, city officials, city government employees, barangay leaders, officers and personnel of the General Santos City Police Office, the Philippine Army’s Joint Task Force Gensan and the neighboring local government units for the incredible turnout of the festival.

“Sa ating kapulisan, mga government security forces, kasama na ang ating festival director na si Joey Concepcion at sa kaniyang team na kahit kulang sa tulog at walang pahinga, talaga sinikap nila na maging successful ang ating selebrasyon, maraming, maraming salamat!” she added.

The mayor also announced that she and her husband ABC President Bobby Pacquiao have shelled out P210,000 from their personal funds as additional cash prizes for the winners and participants of the Street Dancing Competition.

“Kasi nakita natin na talagang nag-effort ang mga participants, kaya deserve nila na mapasaya natin sila,” she said.

The city police have estimated more than 400,000 spectators have joined and witnessed the closing ceremony on Tuesday night.
