Mayor Pacquiao to appeal P126M disallowance order

The administration of General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao will appeal the notice of disallowance issued by the Commission on Audit (COA) totalling P126 million.

In a message to Politiko, City Administrator Franklin Gacal said they have already discussed the Audit Observation Memorandum issued by the COA and have prepared their answer.

“I’m confident that we can answer and give our justifications on the observations of COA,” Gacal said.

Gacal presided an emergency meeting late Monday afternoon with different departnment heads of the city government in the newly-renovated Mayor’s Office to dicuss the COA findings.

In a Notice of Disallowance dated June 18, 2024, COA have informed Pacquiao that the controversial Laudable Government Performance (LGP) bonus disbursed by the city government in 2022 was disallowed and declared inoperative for lack of legal basis contrary to existing laws.

“Please direct the aforementioned persons liable to settle immediately the said disallowance,” the notice read.
