Mayor Pacquiao urged to allow city agri officials to answer El Niño aid queries

General Santos City Councilor Froebel Kan Balleque has called on City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao to allow officials from the City Agriculturist’s Office to attend the invitation of the city council to shed light on the P100 million El Niño assistance.

In a Facebook post, Balleque said the Sangguniang Panlungsod invited officials from the City Agriculturist’s Office for a Question and Answer Hour during their regular session on Tuesday.

He earlier demanded the release of the list of El Niño aid beneficiaries in the interest of transparency following complaints of alleged favoritism and other irregularities.

But City Administrator Franklin Gacal on Sunday said the city government is not keen on disclosing the recipients’ names to protect their privacy and personal information.

“Ingna si Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao nga tugotan na ang taga-City Agri nga mutunga sa Question and Answer Hour sa sesyon sa Konseho ugma (May 28, 2024) para muhatag ug katin-awan aning isyuha,” Balleque told Gacal.

Politiko reached out to Mayor Pacquiao, but she has yet to respond as of this posting.

Balleque also called the attention of Sanggunian committee on agriculture chairperson and administration ally Councilor Richard Atendido to conduct an inquiry on the issue.
