Mayor Rabat leads groundbreaking for Mati City’s new bagsakan center

Mati City Mayor Michelle N. Rabat has led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a better facility where hundreds of farmers and vendors could sell their produce.

The new Farmers’ Bagsakan Trading and Marketing Center will be built in Sitio Tagawisan in the city.

“The new 720-square meters gym-type trading center aims to help farmers and vendors to display their commodities in a better and safer facility,” the city government said.

It noted that currently the farmers and vendors are at the mercy of the weather since they do not have a fully-concrete and well-roofed trading center.

The P7-million budget for the project comes from the incentive won by the city government in last year’s Seal of Good Local Governance award.

The new bagsakan center is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Also present in the event Friday, May 26, were City Councilors Jerome Dayanghirang and Arman Valera, and other city officials.
