Mayor Rabat suspends classes, gov’t work in Mati City due to bad weather on Feb. 1

Mati City Mayor Michelle N. Rabat has declared the suspension of classes at all levels, public and private, and work in government offices in the city on Thursday, February 1, amid the continuous moderate to heavy rains.

Citing the latest weather advisory, Rabat noted that trough of the low pressure area would bring significant amount of rain Thursday to Caraga and Davao Regions which may cause possible flooding and rain-induced landslides.

As “precautionary and safety measure,” the mayor said she ordered the suspension of classes and work in government.

“Private Offices and/or Establishments in the City of Mati are encouraged to follow the suspension of work, subject to their discretion,” she said.

But offices involved in frontline services, which include peace and order, public services, disaster and risk reduction management, and health services are excluded from the suspension, Rabat added.
