Mayor Roderick Furigay’s ROSE Caravan Brightens Lamitan’s Future”

Mayor Roderick Furigay of Lamitan extends his heartfelt appreciation to the people of Lamitan, tireless volunteers, and steadfast partners whose efforts have made the Reaching Out Serving Everyone (ROSE) Caravan a resounding success. This annual event, a hallmark initiative of the Lamitan City Government since 2013, is designed to uplift the health and well-being of Lamitan’s residents.

Under Mayor Furigay’s visionary leadership, the ROSE Caravan surpassed expectations, providing a diverse array of essential services to the community. These included critical health services such as medical consultations, blood donation drives, dental health check-ups, and the distribution of reading glasses and blankets. The mayor’s focus on community well-being was also evident in the distribution of radios, vegetable seeds, and Go Balde, underscoring the city’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more prosperous Lamitan.

The mayor’s dedication to housing was also evident, as the event facilitated the ceremonial distribution of certificates to 250 recipients of the City Government’s housing project. This housing initiative, developed in partnership with the National Housing Authority, the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development-BARMM, and KAPYANAN under the Office of the Chief Minister, represents Mayor Furigay’s unwavering commitment to providing safe and secure housing to Lamitan’s residents.

The success of the ROSE Caravan was made possible through the collaborative efforts of various departments and organizations, including the City Health Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Agricultures’ Office, City Civil Registrar, General Services Office, Quick Response Team, SK Officials, 53rd SAC PNP-SAF, 18th Infantry Battalion, and Coastguard Basilan Station. Mayor Furigay also extends his sincere gratitude to the Provincial Officials led by Hon. Jim Hataman-Salliman, Governor, Vice Mayor Hegem C. Furigay, and the City Councilors for their invaluable support.

Special recognition goes to the Philippine Red Cross-Basilan Chapter and volunteer doctors Dr. Hamis, Dr. Calinglan, and Dr. Saipuddin, as well as to the religious sector for their essential contributions to the event.

Mayor Furigay sees the ROSE Caravan as not just a one-time event but as an ongoing commitment to the health, welfare, and happiness of the people of Lamitan. As he often says, “Abante pa more, Lamitan!” (Onward, Lamitan!) The spirit of the ROSE Caravan will continue to thrive as Mayor Furigay and the Lamitan City Government work tirelessly to make a positive difference in the lives of Lamitan’s residents.
