Mayor Uy asks Dipolognons to be alert to ensure integrity of voter registration

Dipolog City Mayor Darel Dexter T. Uy has urged his constituents to be vigilant and report any irregular acts which could tarnish the integrity of the electoral process.

He made the call following reports that certain individuals were observed lining up at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Office recently for registration wearing polo shirts bearing the seal of Dipolog City.

The mayor said he learned that those individuals were neither employees of the city government nor were in anyway connected to the local government.

They were allegedly only following the instructions of a certain barangay official to wear such shirts, he said.

“Whatever the reason may be, I urge all citizens to refrain from such actions. The integrity of our electoral process and the sanctity of public representation are paramount. Such actions can create confusion and undermine the trust that our community places in our government institution,” Uy said.

He warned that the city government would not tolerate such acts and “those found accountable will be dealt with in accordance with law.”

He also asked the barangay officials to uphold the principles of good governance and ethical conduct.

“We must lead by example and demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and accountability to our constituents,” the official stressed.

“I implore all Dipolognons to be vigilant and report any irregular or unlawful acts that could tarnish the reputation and integrity of our city,” Uy added.
