Mayor Uy suspends tourism activities in Samal for 2 weeks

Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Al David T. Uy has ordered the suspension of all tourism activities in the city from June 1 to 14, except the Department of Tourism (DOT) star-rated resorts and staycation establishments.

“There is a need to prohibit all tourism activities in the Island Garden City of Samal due to the continuous surge of Covid-19 cases in the City and its neighboring places,” the mayor said in his Executive Order No. 292, series of 2021.

During the 14-day suspension of all resort operations and tourism activities, he said the public should continue to observe public minimum health standards, such as wearing of face mask and face shield at all times and maintain one meter distance from each other.

Indoor and outdoor non-contact sports and other forms of exercise are allowed, except for scuba diving, trekking, hiking, biking, and motorcycle rides in groups. There shall be no sharing of equipment.

All mass gatherings are not allowed, except for religious based prayers and mass activities, provided that participants are up to 50 percent of the venue or seating capacity only.
