Mayor Uy welcomes collaborative efforts for upgrading farm-to-market road in IGACOS

Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) Mayor Al David T. Uy has led the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrading of farm-to-market road, which will benefit the cacao farmers.

The 1.37-kilometer road project will be constructed from Purok 4 to Purok 8 at Barangay Tagbitan-ag.

The project will be implemented under the Rapid Growth Project of the Department of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the IGACOS local government.

Rapid Growth Project is an International Finance for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-funded project of DTI. It aims to improve the chain of a certain commodity, linking the association of farmers with the market and providing other interventions which can improve the value chain.

Uy expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts poured in to realize another vision set for the posterity of Samal Island and to further thrive the agriculture industry successfully.

“Akong dakong pasalamat sa tanan, this is a collaborative effort na hopefully, I’m sure, and I am confident that it will have ripple effects in the community,” he said during the recent event.

Uy also expressed his hope for more infrastructure developments to showcase that IGACOS is more than its clear sea waters and fine sand but also has the potential to flourish farm tourism.

“Hopefully with this infrastructure mahinay hinay nato og develop ang mga daghan na mga potentials diri sa interior gyud sa Samal dili lang ang beach,” the mayor said.
