Mendoza admin strengthens campaign vs STI, HIV/AIDS in Cotabato

The Cotabato government, under the leadership of Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza, has conducted a three-day education campaign in the fight against the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS.

The STI (Sexually Transmitted Infections), HIV/AIDS Peer Educators’ Training was held on June 26-28 at Sitio Maupot, Pangao-an, Magpet.

“Mas mapapalawak at mapapalakas pa ng nasabing hakbangin ang pagpapalaganap ng tamang impormasyon tungkol sa naturang usapin sa kanilang mga pamilya at kaibigan, na epektibong paraan upang higit na maiangat ang kaalaman ng komunidad sa STI, HIV/AIDS,” the provincial government said.

Among those who participated were the school leaders, Sangguniang Kabataan officers, and students/volunteers from the LGBTQIA+ community.

The attendees would be the “support system” for those who have the illness to stop the discrimination and stigma against them, the provincial government said.

The Integrated Provincial Health Office facilitated the activity, which was also attended by Board Members Ivy Martial Lei C. Dalumpines-Ballitoc and Maria Krista A. Piñol-Solis.
