Menstrual leave for GenSan female workers proposed

A proposed ordinance seeking to provide female employees of General Santos City with up to two days of menstruation leave every month has been filed in the Sanggunian Panlungsod.

City Councilor Jose Orlando “Odjok” Acharon said on Monday that he has scheduled a joint committee hearing this week for his proposed “Menstrual Leave Ordinance”.

The measure also encourages other public and private offices in the city to implement the same.

In 2022, the provincial government of La Union first implemented a Menstrual Privilege policy which allows female employees of the provincial government to work from home two days a month while they have their periods.
