Nearly 600 tourism workers, operators in Lanao del Norte get aid

Almost 600 tourism workers and operators affected by Covid-19 pandemic in Lanao del Norte have received assistance from the provincial government.

The Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) visited the Tourist Attraction Sites (TAS) and Tourism Related Establishments (TRES) in the province to give relief aid to 578 tourism workers and operators due to closure of their businesses and livelihood.

Each beneficiary received 25 kilos of rice and P1,000 and the fund came from the 5 percent Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Fund, the provincial government said.

“Most of these business operators and workers rely on their tourism-related livelihood to support their families. However, because of the pandemic, they were ordered to close their establishments for a long time,” said Provincial Tourism Officer Alerma Y. Montañez.

“This is a huge help to our families because we haven’t operated in a long time due to the imposed health protocols,” said Governor Imelda “Angging” Dimaporo.
