NIA readies La Niña response in Soccsksargen

The National Irrigation Administration Regional Office 12 has started its La Niña preparations even as El Niño continues to affect the agriculture sector in the region.

NIA 12 Regional Manager Diosdado Rosales told media on Monday that the agency had already coordinated with concerned local government agencies and local government units (LGUs) for flood protection works and water management for irrigation, as the country is expecting an increase in rainfall in the coming months.

Rosales also highlighted that the agency is now focused on the continuing rehabilitation and protection of canals, drainage, and other critical watershed supporting irrigation systems.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. urged concerned government agencies and LGUs to brace for the impact of La Niña.
