Para sa kaligtasan! Mayor Uy implements curfew on minors in IGACOS

Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Al David T. Uy has issued an executive order imposing a curfew on minors in the city.

Under EO 41, series of 2024, Uy said all children below 18 years old shall be prohibited from loitering, straying, or wandering outside their house, dormitory, or boarding house from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.

“In order to ensure safety of all minors from accidents and other untoward incidents that usually happen during the nighttime, it is imperative to regulate their movements,” Uy said.

The minors are only allowed outside during the curfew hours when accompanied by their parents or guardians; when involved in emergency or unforeseen circumstances; when engaged in an employment or school class and returning home without detour or stop; and when attending a school, religious, or civic sponsored activity supervised by adults.

The mayor tasked the Philippine National Police or Punong Barangays to implement the order.

“The parents or guardians who are in the actual custody of the minor must supervise the activities of minors and see to it that the latter is already at home before the curfew hours,” he said.

Violators shall be penalized.

The EO was issued on Thursday, June 27, and shall take effect upon approval of the local chief executive.
