PCSO clears Trento Gaming on STL remittance mess

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Tuesday cleared local numbers game operator Trento Gaming and Leisure Corporation (TGLC) over failed remittances to the city government.

During Tuesday’s regular session of the 20th Sangguniang Panlungsod, PCSO Branch Manager Alicia Sabadera clarified that it is their office who is mandated to remit the proceeds to local government units where small town lottery (STL) tickets are sold.

She said the PCSO has suspended its remittance of STL shares after the Commission on Audit (COA) have issued an Audit Observation Memorandum (AOM).

“We know our obligations as to the STL LGU shares, pero lahat po kasi ito nangyari because of a COA AOM. Head office po kasi na COA ang memorandum,” Sabadera explained.

Sabadera also said the General Santos City Treasurer’s Office was aware of the situation.

“Hindi lang po ito sa city of General Santos,” she added.

The city council have invited PCSO to shed light on the issue after City Administrator Franklin Gacal recommended the revocation of the authority to operate of the TGLC.

“Daily po kasi ang remittance ng STL sa amin. (In good faith) the STL (operator) is doing its duties and responsibilities. Nagka-aberya lang,” the official said.
