PNP update sought on efforts vs crime surge in GenSan

The General Santos City council has raised the alarm over the spate of killings and other crime incidents that had been hounding the city.

Councilor Jonathan Blando proposed to invite General Santos City Police Office Director PColonel Nicomedes Olaivar, Jr. to update the public on the peace and order situation.

He said the council would like to know what the police is doing to ensure the safety of the residents.

“We request the City Director for a Q&A on the recent shooting incidents, for the update. Iyong mga shooting incidents, sunod-sunod, Madam Chair,” Blando said.

At least 22 shooting incidents have been reported in the city in the past seven months.

Last week, retired State Auditor Manuel “Maning” Malinao was gunned down by still unidentified suspects in his home in Sta. Cruz, Barangay Dadiangas West.
