Public urged to stay vigilant vs forest fire

The Bureau of Fire Protection in South Cotabato is calling on the public to be extra vigilant against incidents of grass fire as the province takes the toll of the dry spell.

On Saturday, authorities responded to a fire incident that hit a portion of Mount Susong Dalaga in Barangay Lambayong, in the municipality of Tampakan around 5 p.m.

The BFP said they are still investigating the cause of the fire but noted that there are many possibilities on how the incident started, including the intense heat whicl could have caused a spark.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that the Soccsksargen region will continue to endure high temperatures at average 38 degrees Celsius this week.
