Rep Oaminal defends ‘yes’ vote for absolute divorce bill

Misamis Occidental 2nd District Rep. Sancho Fernando “Ando” F. Oaminal has justified why he voted “yes” for the approval of the absolute divorce bill in the country.
The congressman said on Friday, May 24, his “heart goes out to those whose marriages are irretrievably broken.”
But despite his positive vote for House Bill 9349 on the third and final reading on Wednesday, May 22, he stressed the need to preserve the sanctity of marriage and strengthen families as a basic autonomous social institution.
Oaminal was one of the 131 lawmakers who voted to approve the proposed absolute divorce in the Philippines.
“I sincerely hope that with the passing of this bill, we are giving you another ray of hope that one day you will be free from the shackles that prevent you from attaining self-fulfillment and happiness that each one deserves,” he said.
