Rivera: ‘Let’s all work together to treat every day like Earth Day’

General Santos City Councilor Jane Rivera pushed for the promotion of a culture of environmental responsibility among her constituents.

During the city’s Earth Day Celebration on Monday, Rivera also called for cooperation between governmental and non-governmental organizations in implementing ecological laws and ordinances to attain a sustainable and resilient community.

“My goal is to promote a culture of environmental responsibility and care among us, to enhance the sustainability and resilience of our community,” she said in a speech.

According to Rivera, the success of the campaign to protect the environment depends highly on the active participation of communities at the household level.

“Our country is blessed with a diverse ecosystem and rich biodiversity, and it is our duty as citizens to protect and preserve our natural resources,” Rivera added.

“I believe that with the help of everyone here today, we can make a big difference… Let’s all work together to treat every day like Earth Day!” Rivera concluded.
