Authorities said the situation has been brought under control following a reported shooting incident Tuesday morning inside the Junior High School campus of Ateneo de Zamboanga University in Zamboanga City.
In an advisory, the university said authorities were already managing the situation and urged parents and guardians to wait for the designated pick-up time to fetch their children.
“The situation is now under control,” the school said, while appealing for patience, cooperation and understanding.
Meanwhile, Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco said an Incident Command Post had been established to oversee the response to the incident.
Climaco also said an immediate coordination meeting was held with the president of Ateneo de Zamboanga University as authorities assessed the situation and worked to ensure the safety of students and the school community.
Authorities have yet to release further details as the investigation into the reported shooting continues.
