South Cotabato’s lantern ‘best parol’ in Malacañan Palace

South Cotabato has won the parol-making contest that the Malacañan Palace and other national government agencies had initiated.

The provincial government said the province presented the “Dreamweavers Parol” as its entry to the competition, which was also participated in by 71 other provinces in the country.

The province’s entry was made by inmates of the South Cotabato Rehabilitation and Detention Center and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Koronadal and designed by fashion designer Ivan Raborar.

“The parol exudes the magic of the local fabric tnalak and tabih,” the provincial government said.

As its price, South Cotabato received P500,000.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Kalayaan Grounds in Malacañan Palace on December 3. The lanterns, including the Dreamweavers Parol, were lighted during the event.
