Surigao City gov’t, DSWD provide financial aid to fire victims

The Surigao City government, together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), has extended financial assistance to 40 households displaced by fire in Barangay San Juan.

The DSWD Field Office Caraga distributed P10,000 to each of the 36 households with totally damaged houses in a recent fire incident, the Public Information Office (PIO) of Surigao City said.

For the five families with partially destroyed houses, they got P5,000 each, it said.

Also, the city government gave P5,000 for totally damaged houses and P3,000 for partially damaged.

The payout for the fire victims from Sitio Alingit was held on Friday, May 31, at Barangay Luna Evacuation Center.

“This financial support aims to help the affected families recover and rebuild their lives. The City Government of Surigao remains committed to assisting its citizens in times of crisis,” the PIO said.
