Surigao City LGU holds 2-day environmental symposium

The Surigao City government, under the leadership of Mayor Pablo Yves L. Dumlao II, has conducted a two-day environmental symposium for the city’s 54 barangays.

The activity, organized by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, was held on June 10-11 at the City Cultural Center.

The Surigao City Public Information Office (PIO) said the symposium aimed to elevate environmental consciousness and advocate sustainable practices among residents.

Among the topics discussed were the implications of RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 on climate change, effective forestry management strategies, and the critical importance of biodiversity management.

The symposium, held in observance of Environment Month, was attended by Sangguniang Kabataan Chairpersons and Barangay Councilors responsible for environmental committees, emphasizing their dedication to fostering a sustainable and resilient future for Surigao City, the PIO said.
