Tamayo reminds lgus: Only PCSO can shut down STL operations

South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. has warned local government units against regulating operations of the Small Town Lottery (STL) in the province.

In a media interview, Tamayo reminded local chief executives that STL operations are backed by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), which is a national government agency.

The official made the statement as the municipal government of Banga launched a crackdown of STL outlets in the municipality to limit their operation.

“Wala kami right nga mga local government units na ipa-stop ang operations ng mga national government programs and projects, unless na may closure mismo mula sa agency,” Tamayo said.

Tamayo said the operation of STL is pursuant to the national law and only the PCSO has the authority to suspend, cancel or revoke their franchise.

“Dapat, ang complaints ipinaabot nila sa agency kung mayroong violations. Kung may action sila, at ipadlock nila, pwede silang masampahan ng kaso, lalo na iyong nag-padlock,” the governor said.
