Tons of garbage collected in Zamboanga City coastal cleanup – OCENR

Zamboanga City has joined the simultaneous coastal cleanup activities with tons of garbage collected.

The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) spearheaded the activity, which was participated by some 1,033 representatives from various local and national government offices and organizations Saturday, September 15.

The tons of garbage were collected at the R. T. Lim Boulevard and Sta. Cruz Island in celebration of International Coastal Cleanup Day.

The OCENR said the waste materials were those washed to the shores due to rains brought by the effect of southwest monsoon in recent days.

Audit is ongoing to determine the exact volume as well as variety of waste collected, OCENR Assistant Head Gerry Pollisco said.
