Uy admin provides aid to 400 families affected by demolition inside Cagayan de Oro Army camp

The Cagayan de Oro City government, under the leadership of Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy, has extended assistance to families displaced by the demolition of their houses inside Camp Edilberto Evangelista in Barangay Patag.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) gave the aid on Tuesday, June 18, the first day of the demolition. The assistance includes five kilos of rice for each family.

Citing the data from the City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD), the City Information Office (CIO) said some 400 families have been affected by the activity.

It said the Uy administration assures that the provision of aid will continue during the removal of the houses in the area.

Supreme Court decided in 2013 that the Philippine Army was the rightful owner of the over 100 hectares of land where Camp Evangelista is. The dismantling of the civilian structures was based on the court’s order.
