VG Dr. Elmer T. De Peralta Champions Youth Lifestyle Medicine Program

The Philippine College of Lifestyle Medicine (PCLM), in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Sarangani, represented by Vice Governor Dr. Elmer T. De Peralta, and the Department of Education – Sarangani, represented by Education Program Supervisor for Science, Ms. Marlou De Arce, recently organized a comprehensive two-day community engagement lifestyle medicine program. The event, held at Kiamba National High School, saw active participation from the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) from five schools across Kiamba and Maitum.

Led by PCLM Medical Practitioners such as Little Garduque-Calo, MD, Patrik Tan, MD, Coby Carel Ebol, ND, Reynelyn Valencia, RN, and Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta, the program covered a series of youth lifestyle management topics. These included introductory sessions on lifestyle medicine, discussions on risky behaviors and addiction, stress management techniques, substance abuse prevention, insights into gut health, hands-on culinary medicine workshops, and self-assessment methods.

After the informative presentations, the students actively participated in the election process to establish the Lifestyle Medicine Student Council. The newly elected officers are poised to play a crucial role in promoting healthy lifestyle practices within their respective schools and communities.
