Zamboanga City to host Japanese priests’ retreat early next year – Mayor Dalipe

Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe has welcomed two Japan-based bishops at the City Hall.

Bishops Joseph Abella of the Fukuoka Diocese and Bishop Goro Matsuura of the Nagoya Diocese met the mayor on Wednesday, May 15, on the sidelines of their preparations for the retreat of some 30 priests from Japan in the city in January next year, the city government said.

Dalipe thanked the prelates for choosing the city as the site for the overseas retreat of the Japanese priests next year.

The two bishops have been on a four-day trip to the city since May 14 to meet various groups and observe projects that have to do with peace and interreligious dialogue, including the Zamboanga Basilan Integrated Development Alliance, Inc. and Peace Advocates Zamboanga (ZABIDA-PAZ), and Claret community.
