The Agusan del Sur government, under the leadership of Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr., has spearheaded an earthquake drill as part of its preparation for hosting the Palarong Pambansa next month.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) facilitated the activity on Wednesday, April 22, at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Sports Complex in Patin-ay, Prosperidad.
“The activity forms part of the province’s strengthened preparedness measures in line with its hosting of the Palarong Pambansa 2026, particularly in ensuring safety, coordination, and rapid emergency response during major events such as the opening ceremony and other large-scale gatherings,” the provincial government said.
The students of Agusan del Sur National High School (ANHS) also observed the earthquake and fire drills.
Members of the Security, Traffic, and Health Cluster, the Health and Emergency Response Committee, the Department of Education (DepEd), and other key stakeholders participated in the activity.
The Palarong Pambansa 2026 will be held from May 24 to 31 in Prosperidad.
