Representative Dale Bokingo Corvera joined fellow lawmakers and grassroots leaders during the House Committee on Local Government hearing, where the committee officially approved the proposed measure extending the term of office for Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials to five years. The session was led by Committee Chairman and Aklan 2nd District Representative Florencio T. Miraflores, alongside House Deputy Speaker Raymond Democrito C. Mendoza of the TUCP Party-list.
The legislative milestone was marked in the presence of national leaders from the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas, headed by National President Hon. Katrina Jessica Dy. Highlighting the importance of institutional stability at the grassroots level, the Politiko underscored that providing local community and youth officials with longer tenures enables more effective continuity, planning, and execution of vital socio-economic and governance programs across the country’s barangays.
